PIPW to be a sponsor of the 2nd Annual Ojai WordFest – March 24-31, 2012

 The Pacific Institute for Professional Writing (PIPW) announced today it has agreed to become the nonprofit sponsor of the 2nd annual Ojai WordFest an event spanning two weekends and eight days-a nexus of 100+ literary events in Ojai, March 24-31, 2012. PIPW will present a day of education on Saturday, March 31 to be held at World University of Ojai. Part of the activities that day will be the first of its mentoring sessions – personalized one-on-one meetings with publishing industry professionals to evaluate a writer’s work.

“Area writers-beginners & advanced-are invited to join a host of internationally distinguished writing experts during Ojai WordFest, including stellar professionals associated with PIPW,” says Sequoia Hamilton co-director of 2012 Ojai WordFest. “We’re thrilled with the high-caliber of teaching that PIPW will bring to our literary festival.”

“We are very pleased to work with the Ojai WordFest producers,” said Kate Sexton, Executive Director of PIPW. “Our mission to promote the skills and standards of professional writing and what better location that a major, new literary event. PIPW will hold two educational workshops on Saturday, March 31st at the World University of Ojai. We are finalizing the details of each session but can announce that the first session will be lead by legendary editor and author, Shelly Lowenkopf.”

Mr. Lowenkopf’s career includes work as Executive Editor at several leading publishing houses where he saw over 700 books published. He is the author of over 35 books, including The Fiction Writer’s Companion is aptly titled. Renni Browne, co-author of Self-Editing for Fiction Writers said of Lowenkopf’s new book “FLC is filled with tools rather than how-to advice, it’s the perfect companion to craft books. Thanks to Lowenkopf’s decades of experience, the book is filled with valuable insights, and his sense of humor ensures that it’s as entertaining as it is practical.
