All authors agree to permit Theatre Oxford to produce their contest entry play if the theatre should wish to do so. Authors retain copyright and full ownership of their plays. -Authors may submit multiple plays, but each play submitted must be accompanied by the submission of an entry fee. Prizes: Only the five finalists will be notified of judging results. All plays are judged blind. -Five finalists will be chosen. The Grand Prize Winner will receive the LW Thomas Award of $1,000 and a production of the winning script. Description: 10 MINUTE PLAY CONTEST– ENTRY RULES -Only original plays, never before produced, are eligible. -The play, exclusive of title and cast pages, may be no more than ten pages. -Play should have 2-4 characters and minimal props and costumes. -Assemble script as follows: -TWO COPIES OF THE PLAY. -Optional cover letter. -A title page with the play’s title, author’s name, address, phone number, and e-mail address. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE THE AUTHOR’S NAME SHOULD APPEAR. -The second page should contain a cast of characters and time and place information. PLEASE INCLUDE THE TITLE ON THIS PAGE. -The third page will be the first page of the script. The other pages of the play follow. -NAME OF THE PLAY AND PAGE NUMBERS ON EVERY PAGE, starting with the first page of the script. -Staple or paperclip the play. “FIVES” New Play Festival seeking submissions

BLACK BOX Playwriting Competition: FIVES Five plays. Five actors. Five winners. $500 in prize money! BLACK BOX is pleased to announce our second annual new theatre festival, FIVES. We are seeking submissions of unpublished, original work (works that have received previous staged readings or productions will also be considered), between 10-20 minutes in length. Contest is open to playwrights ages 16 and up. Plays should be of a strong ensemble nature with emphasis on character rather than spectacle. Successful entries will have a five-member cast, and be crafted specifically to exploit our intimate performance space (30′ x 15′ stage). Changes in scenery or setting should be achievable quickly and with few major set moves. Our focus is on fundamental dramaturgy: plot, character and theme. All types of work will be reviewed – comedy, drama, fantasy, etc; however, musicals and children’s scripts are not being solicited at this time. Write a Play – Save an Endangered Species

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen: We are a new and unique playwriting competition and we’d like to introduce ourselves.  Saving Endangered Species Int’l Playwriting Prize aims to get people talking about, and doing something about, saving our endangered species. SES Prize is seeking 10-minute plays where writers will chose one or more species as listed with CITES, World Wildlife Fund, or other organizations that list endangered species.  8-10 plays will be chosen for a Staged Reading at a California theatre with an award of $100usd for each play.
