Choose one of the morning writing prompts posted daily on the Basement Writing Workshop Facebook fan page: http://www.facebook.com/basementwritingworkshop, or on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/basementwriting, and complete the prompt in 2,500 words or less.  The prompts are attached to a multitude of genres: you can write us a poem, a short story, an essay, a novel (just write the first chapter for the contest), or, yes, instructions for impossible yoga positions.  Winners will be chosen by our workshop instructors. 
 
The contest winner will receive a free online class from the Basement Writing Workshop, chosen by him or her from any of our Winter offerings, as well as publication in the Basement Writing Workshop “campus” website, props in our newsletter and social networking outlets, and last but not least, a Certificate of Awesomeness, signed by all our Portland-based instructors.
 
The contest deadline is November 1st.  There is no entry fee.  The winner will be chosen by December 1st.  Send submissions properly formatted in the body of an email to contest@basementwritingworkshop.com.
