The competition has two contests: 

Magma Judge’s Prize (judged by Gillian Clarke,

National Poet of Wales and recipient of Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry 2010):

Unpublished poems of 11 to 80 lines

First prize £500 / second prize / £200 / third prize £100

Magma Editors’ Prize (judged by Magma Poetry editors):

Unpublished poems of up to 10 lines

First prize £500 / second prize / £200 / Plus 10 Special Mentions £10 each

Winners will be invited to read alongside Gillian Clarke at our Competition

Celebration event in early 2013, plus while winning poems will be featured

in the spring 2013 issue of our magazine.

Entry fees and payment

You may submit as many poems as you like accompanied by the appropriate fee.

Non-subscribers i.e. anyone who does not subscribe to Magma magazine,

pay £5 per poem of either length, or £15 for four poems,

but subscribers to Magma magazine only pay £3 per poem of either length,

or £10 for four poems.

Postal entries must be accompanied by a cheque or money order in sterling only.

Make cheques or money orders payable to “Magma Poetry” and write your name on the back.

Online entries must be paid for online by credit card or PayPal in sterling only.

Entries are accepted online and by post from 16 October to 16 December 2012.
