THE VENTURA COUNTY BOOK & AUTHOR FAIR LAUNCHES

VC WRITERS’ WEEKEND, NOVEMBER 3&4

Two-day event in Camarillo will cover the craft and business of writing

(Ventura, CA September 6, 2012) A literary event for writers wishing to learn more about the craft and business of writing, will take place Saturday and Sunday, November 3&4 at the Pleasant Valley Senior Center in Camarillo. The Ventura County Book & Author Fair will morph into the VC Writers Weekend featuring speakers and educational seminars. The event is produced by the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing (PIPW) and co-sponsored by the Ventura County Writers Club (VCWC), Ojai Writers Conference, Global Writing Adventures, and the Small Publishers, Artists and Writers Network (SPAWN).

“We are very excited to produce this educational event in Camarillo,” said Kate Sexton, Executive Director of the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing. “Last year the Book & Author Fair was well received. Afterwards, we discovered that people were very big on our educational offerings, wanting more of them, and not so much for the Book Expo. This year we’re mining PIPW’s core principles and offering professional advise for writers. We have already secured two top west coast literary agents, a leading book editor, and memoirist to lead seminars.”

Saturday’s theme will be “The Business of Writing,” covering book marketing, social networking for authors, self-publishing, small independent presses and an agents panel discussing the current desires of publishers.

Sunday’s theme is “The Craft of Writing,” with sessions on memoir, writing for stage and television, writing for women and the necessary elements a book needs to get published. Some sessions will be two-hours long and others 90-minutes. There will be a fee for all sessions. People can purchase per session, per day or two-day pass.
The website, www.VCWritersWeekend.com will launch September 15th with full sessions and speakers. Other regional writing groups are welcome to co-sponsor the event and should contact Ms. Sexton at 805-633-1506 or Kate@PIPW.org for more details.
