Our One-act competition is now accepting submissions. The Grand Prize includes a staged reading at the next festival, $1,500, VIP All-Access Festival pass for two years, and publication in Bayou. Additionally, there will be a full production of the winners work at the Festival the following year. The University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop and the Department of Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts will judge our 28th Annual One-Act Contest. Playwrights who have not been previously produced, published, or performed may submit a play running no more than an hour with an entry fee of $25 by November 1st, 2013. Victor LaValle and Emily Raboteau will judge the 6th Annual Fiction Contest. A prize of $1,500 and Publication in Louisiana Literature. There will also be a public reading of the of the winning piece at the next Festival. Writers who have not published a work of fiction may submit a work of fiction up to 7,000 words with an entry fee of $25.00 by November 15th. Visit the website for more information.
