Writers, how would you like to spend seven nights, all expenses paid, in an historic setting on the Mississippi River working on your manuscript? Midwest Writing Center is offering this opportunity to residents of Iowa or Illinois writing in any genre.
Please send a 10-page sample of your work (poets: 10 pages of poetry, one poem per page; fiction and nonfiction writers: 10 pages of a short story, essay, novel excerpt or other work, accompanied by a brief synopsis if necessary). The work sample should be taken from writing done in the last three years.
Include three copies of your resume (listing publications and any relevant work experience) and a statement describing the project you intend to work on while at The Great River Writer’s Retreat.
The winning writer will receive seven nights accommodation October 17-24, 2009 at Fulton’s Landing Guest House on the Mississippi River, plus travel and meal stipends, as well as an invitation to read at the Midwest Writing Center.
