Complete guidelines at www.tricinium.com.
Deadline: January 31, 2007
First Prize: $1,000 and performance as a musical composition as part of The MacDowell Colony’s Centennial Celebration
Guidelines: First prize winner will receive $1,000; second prize $250; third prize $100. Top three poems will be set to music and premiered at a concert in October, 2007. The concert event, honoring David F. Putnam, a philanthropist dedicated to community-building, will take place at the Peterborough Players Theater as part of The MacDowell Colony Centennial Celebration. Poetry celebrating community and how individuals can inspire community is sought. Poets are encouraged to write about their experience of community, their sense of place, and/or the special places and people they have known who represent community. The top 20+/- poems will be published in a booklet commemorating community to be distributed at the event. Composer Lawrence Siegel of Tricinium, an organization harnessing the arts to nurture civic engagement, will create three musical compositions; the three winning poets will be honored guests at the premiere. Works should not exceed one-page to be considered. Two copies of each work are required (one without author’s name and contact information). Poems published elsewhere are eligible (with written permission from the publisher) and poetry can be in any language, provided a translation is included. Reading fee $15 (US), $25 (international) payable to Tricinium. Entries will not be returned. Submissions must be postmarked no later than January 31, 2007. Winners will be announced by March 15, 2007. To receive list of winners, include a self-addressed, stamped envelope (SASE). No telephone calls please. Tricinium reserves the right to make no award.
