2007 Chapbook Competition Guidelines:
www.elixirpress.com/guidelines.html#chapbook
Elixir Press is sponsoring a chapbook contest open to all fiction writers and poets writing in English. There will be one competition for poetry, fiction, and multi-genre works.
The prize is $1000 plus 25 copies of the chapbook to be published by Elixir Press. All finalists will be considered for publication.
Chapbook publication DOES NOT make you ineligible for our full-length book contests.
Please note that the chapbook competition is held during odd numbered years only.
Manuscripts should be typed on one side of the page and on standard paper.
Please use a 12- to 14-point font.
Send a business size SASE for reply only. Manuscripts cannot be returned.
Do not send the only copy of your manuscript.
Enclose a cover sheet stating the name of the manuscript and the author’s name, address, and telephone number and a cover sheet with the title alone.
Manuscripts must be paginated and include a table of contents and an acknowledgments page, if appropriate.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome, so long as Elixir is notified immediately if a manuscript is accepted elsewhere.
Poetry manuscripts should be 18 to 24 pages in length.
Fiction manuscripts should be 18 to 70 pages in length. Fiction manuscripts may be a collection of short or short-short stories, a long short story, a novel excerpt, or any other form or combination of fiction. Pretty much anything goes for a multi-genre manuscript. Any artwork included must be in black and white.
Please secure your manuscript with either a paper clip, binder clip, or file folder. Do not otherwise bind your manuscript.
An SAS postcard for receipt of manuscript is optional.
The entry fee is $20.
The postmark deadline is May 31, 2007.
