Award Amounts

1st Prize: $500 Plus Certificate & Publication
2nd Prize: $300 Plus Certificate & Publication
3rd Prize: $100 Plus Certificate & Publication
Honorable Mention: Certificate & Publication

Submissions must be unpublished and not under promise of publication when submitted; may be simultaneously submitted elsewhere, but please notify if accepted. Submit no more than seven poems on any subject in any form (e.g. free verse, blank verse, sonnets, haiku, freestyle), 40 lines maximum each.

** Submissions containing racist language, pejorative content, and/or hate speech will not be considered **

Include cover letter with name, address, phone number, and email address (if applicable). Poems must be titled and typed on 8. 5 x 11 inch white paper, single­spaced, one poem/page. Entries may also be submitted via commpact disc (due to virus concerns, no floppy discs please). Include SASE of sufficient size and postage for return of materials. Winners will be announced in June via nationwide press release, in Poets & Writers Magazine, on Urban Echoes’s website, and in Urban Echoes’s quarterly newsletter. Winners also available by SASE if provided.

All winners will be published on website and in quarterly newsletter, as well as invited to read winning entries at special ceremony in November. All submitting authors will also be considered for future publication by Urban Echoes.
