Enjoy Beautiful Southern Indiana in the Early Summer!
Come to the Indiana University Writers’ Conference!
The Indiana University Writers’ Conference (IUWC), now in its 67th year, will welcome eight nationally known writers to the Bloomington campus of Indiana University from June 10-June 15, 2007 for a week-long festival of readings, classes and workshops.
The IUWC is excited to welcome an exceptional lineup of authors to Bloomington this summer.
Poetry workshops will be taught by Heather McHugh and Khaled Mattawa. Matthew Klam and Lee Martin will teach workshops in fiction.
Classes include: Writing Like My Dog: How Memory, Instinct, and Knee-Jerk Contrarianism Can Overcome A Deadly Cycle of Rules And Expectations…. taught by Adam Langer, Telling True Stories with Nicholas Dawidoff, Pleasure and the Poem with instructor Catherine Bowman, and Reading Like a Writer taught by Crystal Wilkinson.
Apart from our traditional curriculum of classes and workshops, days are filled with readings, presentations on writing and publishing, group ventures to area restaurants, and other informal presentations and discussions.
Workshops may be taken for up to two credit hours at the graduate or undergraduate level, and may be applied toward professional or teacher certification. We must receive all fees and tuition in full by June 1; however, early application is highly recommended. Credit hour fees are separate from the cost of the conference. In order to earn the credits, students must attend one workshop during the conference and revise their manuscript once the conference is over. Please visit the Office of the Registrar’s website at registrar.indiana.edu/ for more information.
The Indiana University Writers’ Conference is a non-profit organization that supports creative writing in Indiana, the Midwest and throughout
the country. For an application and more information visit: www.indiana.edu/~writecon or call us at (812) 855-1877.
