We already have a dozen literary agents who are excited about reading the work that comes out of our residency.
Unlike other residencies and writing competitions, the inhabitants of the Orphanage will not be decided by one mysterious person, or even a panel of unknowns, but will be chosen by the collectivity of the Internet. The writers whose pitches are engaging enough to reach the largest audiences will become a part of the Orphanage. Writer’s pitches will be posted online for all to judge at
theorphanageresidency.com, and six members will be voted in through crowd sourcing. Each pitch will be voted up (or down, to ensure it’s not a popularity contest) by our community. Each writer will have an unbiased, equal opportunity at being one of the top six writers.
