Canton One Acts Festival
CASH PRIZES AVAILABLE
Canton, MI—TLC Productions is accepting scripts for the 2013 Canton One Acts Festival, postmarked no later than August 24, 2012. This Festival will take place January 18-20, 2013 at the Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton, MI.
TLC Productions is made up of Canton’s very own: Tim Chanko, Linda Pohl and Christopher Tremblay. They said this about the event that will showcase great local talent:
“This festival brings new plays to the Canton community and Village Theater at Cherry Hill stage. As aspiring playwrights, we looked for other venues to submit our one-act musicals, but there weren’t any nearby groups organizing any competitions or festivals. Since we have been afforded the opportunity to present our new works at The Village Theater, we wanted to provide a process, venue and event to showcase other emerging playwrights of plays and musicals as well as to aspiring directors. Thanks to the Partnership for the Arts and Humanities, this festival is now a theatrical tradition in Canton.”
TLC is looking for original plays in length from 15 minutes to 20 minutes. Multiple submissions from a playwright are welcomed, however, no children shows will be considered. For a list of complete guidelines and for information on the judging process go to cantononeacts.com.
The deadline for works is August 24, 2012.
In October, semi-finalists will be notified. In October, TLC will present dramatic readings of the semi-finalists’ scripts. Selected shows for the One-Acts Festival will be announced online at cantononeacts.com by October 31, 2012. In November, there will be auditions for the selected plays. Playwrights can request to direct their own show if show is selected or TLC Productions will appoint a director. Preference will be given to aspiring directors.
TLC Productions will award first, second and third place awards based on audience votes.
The One-Acts Festival is organized by TLC Productions, sponsored by the Partnership for the Arts and the Humanities, and offered in partnership with The Village Theater at Cherry Hill.
