The English Department at Emmanuel College invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor in rhetoric and creative writing to teach three courses each semester, beginning in Sept. 2008. Ph.D required at the time of appointment.

The successful candidate must be able to teach both first-year composition courses (ENGL 1101, 1102) and genre-specific writing courses such as the following, as needed:
ENGL 2504 Prose Writing
ENGL 2505 Autobiographical Writing
ENGL 2506 Poetry Writing
ENGL 2507 Fiction Writing
ENGL 3805 Writing Seminar
FYS (First Year Seminar)

The ability to develop and teach additional literature offerings, particularly in areas such as world lit, Native-American lit, African-American or African lit would enhance candidacy. Experience with undergraduate publications featuring the work of student writers would further strengthen application.

Suitable candidates will demonstrate a clear commitment to undergraduate teaching and an active research/publishing agenda. The English Dept. at Emmanuel College houses programs in literature, communication, and writing and literature. All programs reflect in their design and pedagogy a commitment to rhetorical and cultural theory and approaches.
