Tilt Press is proud to announce its first open reading period for poetry chapbook manuscripts
for emerging poets only – poets who have not yet published a chapbook or full length collection
of work.
If you are an emerging poet looking to publish your first chapbook manuscript, please read our
guidelines.
Open Reading Period: July 1, 2008—September 30, 2008
Submission Guidelines:
¨ We only take electronic submissions. Please email your manuscript as a .doc attachment to submit@tiltpress.com
Include your full name in the subject line followed by the title of your manuscript, e.g. – Jill Smith—Bridges Under Water
¨ Send between 15-22 pages of poetry, numbered.
¨ Include two title pages: One with the title of your manuscript, full name, and contact information.
One with only the title of your manuscript.
¨ Include a table of contents and an acknowledgements page. We do accept individual poems within the manuscript
that have been previously published in journals, but please acknowledge those publications.
¨ In the body of your email, please include a cover letter and biography.
¨ Simultaneous submissions are welcome, as long as we are notified immediately if your manuscript
has been selected for publication elsewhere.
¨ Response time will vary. We intend to inform our shortlist of 10 that their manuscripts are under consider for the three spots. We estimate a final decision by mid-November of 2008.
¨ At this time, we do not have a reading fee.
