The X.J. Kennedy Award for Nonfiction

4th biennial XJ Kennedy Award for Creative NonFiction sponsored by ROSEBUD magazine

Some key points:

1) This distinguished competition, sanctioned by XJ kennedy has been in existence for eight years. It offers a $1000 prize to the winner and $100 each to four runnerups. All five winners will be published in ROSEBUD MAGAZINE, now 13 years old as an independent, self-supporting nationally distributed literary journal. Previous issues featuring the winners have been widely praised. (Back issues are available at www.rsbd.net.)

2) The Competition is sponsored by ROSEBUD, MAGAZINE, published by non-profit 501 (c) (3) ROSEBUD, Inc., a non-profit corp. run mostly by volunteers and a few severely underpaid independent contractors. All competition fees go to Rosebud, Inc. operations in publishing and promoting reading and writing in the U.S., Canada, and beyond. Not one red cent goes into anyone’s pocket.

Mr. Kennedy is one of America’s most admired editors, poets and essayists. He was the judge of the first competition and remains a valued supporter of and advisor to the award. The current contest will be judged by Rosebud editor and VOICE OVER columnist Roderick Clark and by Robert Wake, Editor of Cambridge Book Review Press. As Judge Clark observes: “Paper is flat and the world is round. Telling the truth about the world requires both discipline and imagination. The winner must display both.”

THE DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31, 2006.
