NYC Midnight (www.nycmidnight.com), an LLC that has made waves with its’ short-term creative contests and competitions, is offering one final day, today, for the early registration rate in it’s third annual Short Story Challenge, a competition that adds a competitive edge to an unlikely sport: writing. On January 16th, 2009, registrants will sharpen their brains – and their pencils – after being revealed the mystery genres and subjects for their anticipated 2,500 word-count original short stories. Seven days later, they will submit their creative chronicles to a panel of esteemed judges, hailing from literary and publishing backgrounds, who will select up to 100 writers to advance on to the final heat, where they will compete with clauses and compounds for a chance to win thousands in cash and prizes by writing a short story in just 24 hours.

“We aim to challenge and reward creative types for thinking outside of their comfort zones and boxes, which is the draw for our Short Story Challenge,” explained Charlie Weisman, co-founder of NYC Midnight. “Not only are participants benefiting from the challenge, they are also guaranteed in-depth feedback from both judges and their peers, as all participants have the option of sizing up the competition through our online Special Review Forum.” he said.

December 18th was the final day to pay the $35 early registration fee. Open to residents of all countries, interested authors will have until January 14th, 2009 to register and can learn more about the contest at www.nycmidnight.com/2009/SSC/challenge.htm.
