Sentinel Annual Poetry Competition 2014

The Sentinel Annual Poetry Competition 2014 is now accepting entries. Now in its 5th year, previous winners include Bridport Winner Terry Jones, Oz Hardwick, and Sharon Black. Marking Time author and former editor of Envoi, the multi-award-winning poet Roger Elkin returns to judge this competition for the 5th time.

Details: This competition is for original, previously unpublished poems in English Language on any subject, in any style, up to 60 lines long (excluding title). Poems entered should not be under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.

Eligibility: Poets of all ages, gender, and nationality living in any part of the world are eligible to enter.

First Prize: £700

Second Prize: £350

Third Prize: £175

High Commendation: £55 x 5

Commendation: Publication in winners anthology only

First Publication: All prize winners and commended poets will receive first publication in an anthology of winners scheduled for September 2015.

Entry Fees: £5 per poem. No maximum number of entries.

Results: Will be announced on 2nd March 2015

The Sentinel Annual Short Story Competition 2014 is now accepting entries. Now in its 3rd year, the maiden prize was won in 2012 by Alison Bouhmid, and the 2014 prize was won by Clare Marsh. Tears in the Fence Editor, David Caddy returns to judge the competition for a third time.

Details: This competition is for original, previously unpublished short stories in English Language on any subject, in any style, up to 2000 words long (excluding title). Stories entered should not be under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.

Eligibility: Writers of all ages, gender, and nationality living in any part of the world are eligible to enter.

First Prize: £700

Second Prize: £350

Third Prize: £175

High Commendation: £55 x 5

Commendation: Publication only
