Metropolitan State invites applications for a half-time, tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in creative writing in the College of Arts and
Sciences. We offer a creative writing track within the writing major as well as a minor in creative writing. This half-time position will be eligible for
partial benefits.
We seek candidates who have extensive experience with a diverse group of students, which may include under-prepared students, ESL and first generation college students. Creative, adaptable individuals who would enjoy being an integral part of Metropolitan State’s diverse community, promoting the arts, cultural diversity and cultural understanding are encouraged to apply.
Job Title and Description: Creative Writing Professor, teaching poetry, fiction and memoir with an emphasis on the experiences of people of color in the
United States. Responsibilities include teaching and advising within our excellent creative writing program in a shared leadership model that includes

Required Qualifications:
* Master’s degree or equivalent;
* Demonstrated commitment to serving culturally and ethnically diverse communities;
* Published book in one of the following genres: poetry, literary fiction or creative nonfiction published by an established publishing company, or small
trade or university press;
* Teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Master of Fine Arts degree;
* Teaching experience in higher education;
* Experience coordinating creative writing-oriented programs and events; and
* Additional substantial publications.
